This single frame observation hive is designed for portable bee demonstrations and short, supervised observation sessions. Its compact format makes it a practical choice for classroom visits, STEM activities, honey stalls and beekeeping events. Clear acrylic panels provide a view of bee activity on the comb, while removable wooden covers darken the hive between demonstrations. Handcrafted from solid ash or a combination of ash and walnut, depending on your selected option. Frame preparation and bee handling should be carried out by an experienced beekeeper.

To set up an observation hive, a beekeeper simply transfers a Langstroth frame from a healthy hive into the observation hive. The bees will continue their natural activities such as caring for brood, storing honey and communicating with each other while observers can watch through the transparent panels.
Because this hive is designed for standard Langstroth frames, it can easily be integrated with most traditional beehives used by beekeepers. The ventilation system allows proper airflow, helping maintain a comfortable environment for the bees during demonstrations.

It's as much an artful masterpiece as it is a wonderful observation hive for a single frame. It's perfect for school presentations, farmers markets, gift fairs, etc. It secures the bees well, provides excellent ventilation and is very sturdy. We opted to upgrade to the two-toned walnut and ash combo and couldn't be happier with that decision--the contrast of the two woods really pop. Communicating with Petar was quick and easy. This item was ordered to support a monthly Meet the Beekeeper event at our local public garden. We wanted to create an experience where both adults & kids could see what a frame looks like and see the bees working. This display was perfect. It’s great quality all around and it’s made of thick, quality wood. It’s fairly heavy so we didn’t have to worry about it tipping over. The frame of bees went in easily and the two slide-in wood pieces allowed us to keep the space dark when people weren’t around. From what I could see, there was no way a bee could escape other than the hole with the plug, and that gave a lot of confidence that we could safely display for visitors. When I went to put the bees back, a few wanted to stay, but I was able to easily remove the plexiglass and get them out without any problem. We love it!

This observation hive went far above my expectations. While the website photos look nice, they don't compare to the real thing. This thing is beautiful! And it's obvious that a lot of care and craftsmanship went into every detail. My logo looks pretty snazzy on the front too ;)
Since the hive was made in Serbia, and I'm in the US, shipping took longer than expected, but when I reached out to Petar he was quick to check into the issue on his end and continued to keep me updated as he received information. It ended up taking about 8 weeks to get here, but I'm so thrilled with the final product, it was definitely worth the wait.
