Handcrafted from solid ash wood, this four frame observation hive provides space for a small nucleus colony and a clear view of bee activity through acrylic panels. It is designed for educational displays in classrooms, museums and nature centers, as well as beekeeping demonstrations. With the optional outdoor tube connection system, the hive can be installed indoors while bees access the outdoors through a wall or window. Colony setup and ongoing care should be handled by an experienced beekeeper.

Optional Outdoor Tube Connection System
The four-frame observation hive is available with an optional external tube connection system, designed for permanent indoor installations in classrooms, museums, and nature centers.
The flexible tube (25mm inner diameter, 2m included) connects the hive to the outside through a wall or window, allowing bees to fly freely in and out while the hive remains safely indoors. The tube locks securely into the entrance port and is tightened with two integrated butterfly screws — no tools required. When the tube is removed, a built-in cover plate automatically drops down and seals the entrance, keeping the hive secure at all times.
This system supports an ongoing indoor observation display with outdoor access for the bees. Suitable placement, secure installation and regular colony care by an experienced beekeeper are essential.

I love my Observation hive! Shipping time and packaging was as promised. The construction is solid and well thought out, not to mention a beautiful piece of woodworking. The design makes a lot of sense and everything has worked well. I've used it a bunch of times now. I practiced with it a few times before I transported them by bringing the bees inside overnight. Loading it with bees is easy out in the bee yard with the one plexiglas panel out and the top open. It makes so much sense. Fully loaded with 4 deep frames of mostly brood I find it weighs about 36-38 pounds which I find manageable for me. For transporting prop and support it perfectly level. The feeding tray is a nice setup. I knew it was empty because the bees buzz tone changed! My local bee club liked mine so much they are ordering one.

I received this observation hive a few weeks ago and am still very impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship. Just everything about this hive says quality. It is very well designed and constructed, very sturdy but surprisingly lightweight. Even the tolerances on the packaging (which was all custom cut) were impressive.
